Erik Haugen’s journey from Early American History major to leadership of the most advanced Data Services team in marketing may not seem an obvious one, but it makes perfect sense for someone who has a passion and flair for storytelling. As the EVP of Data Services, Erik works every day managing all data-related teams and strategies at SG360°. His tireless efforts deliver for clients on two fronts: helping marketers discover previously hidden customer insights that power continuous marketing campaign improvements, and ongoing customer journey excellence via tight integration between all data-centric departments.

Delivering the “Ah-ha!” moment to clients by connecting seemingly unrelated items that reveal previously unknown customer insights is Erik’s favorite part of his job.

“I learned in college that I really enjoyed taking vast amounts of complex information, distilling it down to its critical components, and making it an accessible story through words, data, and visualization,” Erik explains.

Combining his natural aptitude for numbers with his love of crafting narratives, Erik has spent more than 30 years as a driving force in evolving data’s role in direct marketing. What motivates him today is helping marketers understand data’s ever-growing role in modern marketing strategies. “We’re uniquely qualified to help marketers looking to improve overall performance, who need a new way to attack an old problem, or who simply want to better understand their customer base.”

A thorough and analytical leader, Erik further expresses his creative side with an affinity for guitar playing and singing. An avid golfer since age 4, he benefits from the clarity of thought that accompanies distance running.
